Benefit Cost Transfers
When are BCTs processed?
Monday through Friday – at approximately 10 PM PST.
There is an in-progress Benefit Cost Transfer that will redistribute one assessment type from a paycheck. Can I start another Benefit Cost Transfer transaction to redistribute another assessment type from that same paycheck?
No. Unlike the Salary Cost Transfer, if any row of a paycheck is involved in an in-progress Benefit Cost Transfer, all lines in that paycheck are locked on the Process Benefit Cost Transfer page until that Benefit Cost Transfer has been processed.

There is an in-progress Benefit Cost Transfer for a paycheck. Can I start a Salary Cost Transfer for earnings within that same paycheck?
Yes. When a Salary Cost Transfer is batch processed, any open Benefit Cost Transfer for the same paycheck will be cancelled by the batch process.
A Benefit Cost Transfer was previously processed for a paycheck. I am now submitting a Salary Cost Transfer for that same paycheck. Will the Salary Cost Transfer take into account the previously processed BCT when redistributing assessments?
No. The Salary Cost Transfer will simply reverse the assessments based on the earnings in that transaction and reassess based on those earnings. In this case, you will need to submit a new Benefit Cost Transfer to reverse the actions of your previous Benefit Cost Transfer.
I need to redistribute multiple rows of assessments, some involving an OTC indicator and others without an OTC indicator. Both rows need to be redistributed to the same chartstring. How should this be entered?
It is best practice to redistribute lines with an OTC indicator separately from other lines with no OTC indicator or different OTC indicators. This way, the assessment lines remain proportional to the associated earnings, minimizing confusion in the future.

If I can select individual assessment rows when starting a Benefit Cost Transfer, can there be multiple in-progress Benefit Cost Transfers associated with the same paycheck?
No. Unlike the Salary Cost Transfer, if any row of a paycheck is involved in an in-progress Benefit Cost Transfer, all lines in that paycheck are locked on the Process Benefit Cost Transfer page until that Benefit Cost Transfer has been processed.
Can I select individual rows from a paycheck (for example, specific assessments or specific chartstrings) when starting a Benefit Cost Transfer?
Yes. The Process Benefit Cost Transfer search results page shows individual assessment lines from a paycheck, and you can select a subset of the rows associated with a paycheck.
