Role Level Security
UCPath offers various types of access to its pages, depending on the user's role. The most common roles include Initiator, Approver, and Inquiry User:

Initiator - Transactional User

Initiates requests and transactions

Creates and updates records
-
Approver - Transactional User
-
Reviews and approves requests or transactions submitted by Initiators

Inquiry - View-Only Access
-
Allows users to view information within the UCPath system

Does not permit any actions or modifications
Additionally, there are certain administrator roles with more advanced permissions, but these are restricted and not widely distributed to campus users.

A full list of elevated roles in UCPath can be found in the Security Roles & Required Trainings document. Some roles are limited based on your department or your job code. Please note, there are additional steps and limits for contingent workers.

Role Packages for Regions
The UCPath Operations team has compiled a list of recommended Roles for some common job-types on campus (e.g., Financial Analyst, HR Generalist). Note that while these recommendations will help you get started, the exact roles you will need may vary depending on your individual job duties
