UCPath Security Access

All UC Berkeley employees and managers have access to UCPath for self-service. If you need elevated access to UCPath for transactional or inquiry purposes, please read below before submitting a SARA request.

Elevated access in UCPath is organized by role level security and row level security:

  • Role level security controls what page you can access and what actions you can take on those pages

  • Row level security controls what population of employee data you can access (i.e., departmental access)

Your access in UCPath is the result of the intersection between Role Level Security and Row Level Security. This means that elevated access allows you to view specific pages (as defined by Role Level Security) for certain employees and positions (as defined by Row Level Security).

It is not possible to define:

  • Row level access for a specific Role

  • Role level access for a specific Row

Access is Tied to Your Position

Please note that elevated access in UCPath is linked to the position associated with your SARA request. If you transfer or leave that position, your Role and Row Level Security will be removed. To maintain elevated access after a position change, a new SARA request must be submitted.
