Cost Transfers - Training Eligibility
The Salary Cost Transfer training equips Initiators and Approvers with the skills to initiate, review, and approve basic/unrestricted, over-the-cap/restricted, and work-study SCT transactions in UCPath. Combining foundational knowledge with hands-on practice, this training ensures users can confidently and accurately manage salary cost transfers while adhering to key deadlines and compliance requirements. Over time, as you become familiar with the system, you’ll begin to recognize patterns and think about how these transactions fit into the bigger picture.
Please note: you must complete the Funding Entry/Position Funding training series before the Salary Cost Transfer training series.
Eligible Groups Include:
- Department Users
- Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) Users
Required for:
- Initiators submitting Salary Cost Transfer and Benefits Cost Transfers transactions.
Recommended for:
- Approvers approving and denying Salary Cost Transfer and Benefits Cost Transfers transactions.

Technology Pre-Requisites

Access to Global Protect VPN using the Library Access Full Tunnel gateway.

Training Pre-Requisites

Completion of the Intro to UCPath online eLearning course.
- On-demand, 65 minutes
- Complete the Intro eCourse through the UC Learning Center.

Completion of the Funding Entry (Position Funding) online eLearning course.
- On-demand, 30 - 60 minutes
- Complete the Position Funding eCourse through the UC Learning Center.

- Commitment Accounting Overview: this course provides an overview of the UCPath Commitment Accounting module, its role at UC, key functions, and the importance of general ledger (GL) integration.
- GL Assessment Configuration: this course provides information about the creation and grouping of assessments in UCPath.
- Funding Entry Inquiry: this course provides an overview of the customized funding process, its use at UC, and the components of funding data.
- Budget Inquiry: this course provides an overview of budget functionality as well as practice viewing various budget and position pages.
Live Instructor-Led-Training (ILT)
- Time required: 4 hours
- Format: live via Zoom
- Registration Required: sign up for the Salary Cost Transfer ILT through the UC Learning Center(link is external).
- Required for: Salary Cost Transfer & Benefit Cost Transfer Initiators
- Recommended for: Salary Cost Transfer & Benefit Cost Transfer Approvers
- Content: A live, instructor-led session in a UCPath training environment to practice key Salary Cost Transfer transactions, such as basic/unrestricted, over-the-cap/MCOP, and Work-Study.
- Assessment: Ccass transactions submitted in the practice environment to verify skill readiness and ensure transaction accuracy. Requires an 80% or higher precision score to pass.
