Final Pay - Training Eligibility
The Final Pay training equips Initiators and Approvers with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to confidently process Final Pay transactions in UCPath.
This training consists of two required components:
- Final Pay eCourse — Build foundational knowledge of Final Pay requirements, timelines, workflows, and Berkeley-specific best practices.
- Final Pay Live Practice Session — Apply concepts in the UCPath training environment and complete the required practical assessment.
This approach combines the flexibility of self-paced learning with dedicated opportunities for hands-on practice and feedback. Over time, as you gain experience, you'll be able to quickly identify the correct transaction type, anticipate approval requirements, and ensure timely, accurate payments.
Eligible Groups Include:
- Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) Users
- Payroll transactors only
Required for:
- Initiators submitting and Approvers reviewing Final Pay transactions.

Training Requirements

Technology Pre-Requisites

Access to Global Protect VPN using the Library Access Full Tunnel gateway.
- Comfort with the following technology:

- Zoom
- Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, Sheets)
- PDFs

Training Pre-Requisites
Completion of Intro to UCPath (Live Instructor-Led Training)
Intro to UCPath provides the foundational knowledge needed to successfully navigate UCPath and understand how transactions impact employees, departments, and downstream workflows. This course is required before completing most module-specific UCPath training.

Format: Live Instructor-Led Training (ILT)

Length: 5 hours
- Register for the Intro course through the UC Learning Center.
- This course provides an overview of UCPath, PeopleSoft, and key system modules for users performing transactions beyond self-service.
- In this course, you will:

Explore UCPath's core functions, modules, and interconnected workflows.

Practice navigating UCPath, including inquiry pages like Person Organizational Summary, Job Data, Workforce Job Summary, and Add/Update Position Info.

Learn key UCPath terminology, concepts, and Berkeley-specific support resources.

Understand how transactions in one module can impact other areas of UCPath.

Build a foundation for completing module-specific training and performing transactions with confidence.

Final Pay 2-Part Training Series
Part 1: On Demand eCourse
- Time required: 90 - 120 minutes
- Format: online eCourse
- Required for: Final Pay Initiators & Approvers
- Content: A self-paced eCourse that provides the foundational knowledge needed to process Final Pay transactions in UCPath. Topics include Final Pay requirements, timelines, transaction types, approval workflows, and Berkeley-specific best practices for ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Assessment: Learners will complete a knowledge assessment to verify understanding of Final Pay concepts, workflows, and requirements. Successful completion requires a score of 80% or higher.
Part 2: Live (Zoom) Practice Session
- Time required: 60 minutes
- Format: live instructor-led training on Zoom
- Register for a practice session through the UC Learning Center.
- Important: The UC Learning Center requires learners to complete the eCourse before they can register for a live practice session.
- Required for: Final Pay Initiators & Approvers
- Content: A live practice session designed to reinforce and apply concepts introduced in the Final Pay eCourse. Learners will complete Final Pay transactions for both monthly and biweekly employees in the UCPath training environment while working through common scenarios and workflows.
- Assessment: class transactions submitted in the practice environment to verify skill readiness and ensure transaction accuracy. Requires an 80% or higher precision score to pass.
