Vacant Position Management - Training Eligibility
The Position Management training equips Initiators and Approvers with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to confidently create, update, and manage vacant positions in UCPath. This training is structured to ensure confidence in foundational knowledge and practical application. Over time, as you become familiar with the system, you’ll begin to recognize patterns and think about how these transactions fit into the bigger picture.
Eligible Groups Include:
- Department Users
- Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) Users
Required for:
- Initiators submitting Position Control transactions (creating new positions and updating existing vacant positions).
Recommended for:
- Approvers approving and denying Position Control transactions.

Training Requirements

Technology Pre-Requisites

Access to Global Protect VPN using the Library Access Full Tunnel gateway.
- Comfort with the following technology:
- multiple screens
- Zoom
- Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, Sheets)
- PDFs

Training Pre-Requisites
Completion of the Intro to UCPath online eLearning course.

On-demand, 65 minutes
- Complete the Intro eCourse through the UC Learning Center.
- This course provides an overview of UCPath, PeopleSoft, and key system modules for users performing transactions beyond self-service.
- In this course, you will:
- Understand UCPath’s key benefits and the role of the UCPath Center.
- Learn key terms, acronyms, and system modules.
- Navigate UCPath, including field types, data entry, and help resources.

Position Management Live Instructor-Led-Training (ILT)
- Time required: 3 hours
- Format: live via Zoom
- Registration Required: sign up for the Position Management ILT through the UC Learning Center.
- Required for: (vacant) Position Management Initiators
- Recommended for: (vacant) Position Management Approvers
- Content: A live, instructor-led session in a UCPath training environment to practice key vacant Position Management transactions, such as creating new positions, copying existing positions, and updating position data.
- Assessment: class transactions submitted in the practice environment to verify skill readiness and ensure transaction accuracy. Requires an 80% or higher precision score to pass.
