The University of California is encouraging all employees to go paperless by enrolling in direct deposit and consenting to receive their W-2 and 1095-C statements electronically through UCPath. This initiative aims to provide a more convenient, secure, and environmentally friendly way to manage financial documents.
To ensure you receive your 2023 tax statements electronically, be sure to sign up before the following deadlines:
- January 1, 2024: Deadline to receive your 2023 1095-C electronically.
- January 12, 2024: Deadline to receive your 2023 W-2 statement electronically.
If you still receive your paycheck by mail, now is the perfect time to switch to direct deposit, which not only secures your payment but also offers potential banking incentives.
How to Go Paperless:
- Log into UCPath and select Employee Actions > Income and Taxes.
- From there, choose one of the following options:
- Online 1095-C consent (New)
- Enroll to receive online W-2
- Direct Deposit
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the enrollment process, including necessary security checks for direct deposit.
To make the transition even easier, check out our video guide, which provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to enroll. By watching the video, you'll be able to complete the process in just a few clicks.
UCPath will notify you via email when your tax statements are ready for download. Remember, UC will never send your tax forms by email or text. If you receive such messages with links or attachments, do not click them—these are phishing scams.
Four Great Reasons to Go Paperless:
- Convenient and Secure: No more lost or stolen documents—your tax forms and paycheck are always safe.
- Ready When You Are: Access your tax forms immediately when you're ready to file, and receive your money as soon as you're paid.
- An Opportunity to Save: Some banks offer incentives for using direct deposit.
- More Sustainable: Reduce your environmental impact by cutting down on paper usage and transportation.
