What is the Intro to UCPath Course about?

The Intro to UCPath Course provides a foundational understanding of UCPath, UC Berkeley’s comprehensive human resources and payroll system.  This course provides an overview of UCPath’s key functions and modules, guiding learners through navigation, system interconnections, and the essential resources needed to perform UCPath transactions effectively.

Designed for all user roles (Initiators, Approvers, and Inquiry users), this interactive training builds confidence in using UCPath through hands-on practice, foundational knowledge, and the importance of accessing and utilizing support resources.  This instructor-led training session ensures all users are equipped with the skills and understanding to succeed in UCPath. Over time, as you become familiar with the system, you’ll begin to recognize patterns and think about how the different UCPath modules integrate together.

SARA Roles to Request:

Once you have completed the Intro Course, you may want to submit a SARA request for your inquiry roles (check out our UCPath View-Only SARA Roles job aid to learn more about the available inquiry roles and which would be appropriate for your business use case).

This will allow backend access to the PeopleSoft homepages to explore the various inquiry pages while you complete any additional required Initiator / Approver training.

Review our Access webpage for more information about the SARA request process.

Common FAQs

Q: I have already completed a version of the UCPath Intro course - do I need to retake this?

A: No. If you have already completed Intro in some form, you are excused from completing the live ILT. You may be asked to complete a short Google Form Knowledge Assessment.

Q: I am an Approver and already have elevated access - will I now be required to complete the Intro Course?

A: No. If you already have elevated access as an approver, you will not be required to complete the Intro course.

Q: I have to complete several UCPath trainings. What is your recommendation for timing?

A: Our UCPath Training is hands-on and in-depth. For new users, if possible (and based on your unit's access needs), we recommend the following timeline for completing your training:

  • Month 1: Intro to UCPath
  • Month 2+: 1-2 module-specific trainings per month

We offer our live virtual Instructor-Led Training sessions at least once per month.
