Calvin Turner named as new UCPath Executive Director

UC Office of the President (UCOP) has announced that Calvin Turner will be joining Office of the President as UCPath Executive Director effective March 1, 2021. 

Calvin’s appointment follows an extensive national search led by Heidrick & Struggles in collaboration with a systemwide search committee chaired by Stephen Whelan, Executive HR Director, UCI People Services and UCPath Steering Committee co-chair.

Calvin comes to the University of California from his role as Director of the National Finance Center (NFC), the premier federal shared services provider of payroll, HR, insurance and administrative support services to the federal civilian workforce. NFC provides payroll, HR, financial, and administrative services to more than 650,000 employees, and Insurance services to the entire federal civilian workforce. As NFC Director, Calvin successfully ensured continuity of business operations in light of natural disasters and unprecedented government shutdowns, while simultaneously growing NFC’s customer base, implementing operational improvements, and launching organizational transformation initiatives to improve transparency and customer service. 

Prior to joining NFC, Calvin had more than twenty years of banking leadership experience at HancockWhitney Bank, Hibernia National Bank (now CapitalOne) and the Federal Reserve Bank, and he was also previously an Associate Instructor with the University of Phoenix at the New Orleans campus. Calvin has a Master’s degree in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree in Business Management and Communications.

As UCPath Executive Director, Calvin will provide strategic leadership and oversight of UCPath operations and partner with UC locations to stabilize and optimize UCPath operations.
