Funding Entry  - Training Eligibility

The Funding Entry / Position Funding training equips Initiators and Approvers with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to confidently establish and maintain position funding in UCPath.

This training consists of two required components:

  1. Funding Entry / Position Funding eCourse — Build foundational knowledge of funding concepts, chartstrings, effective dating, funding distributions, and Berkeley-specific best practices.
  2. Funding Entry / Position Funding Live Practice Session — Apply concepts in the UCPath training environment and complete the required practical assessment.

This approach combines the flexibility of self-paced learning with dedicated opportunities for hands-on practice and feedback. Over time, as you become familiar with the system, you'll begin to recognize patterns, anticipate downstream impacts, and understand how position funding supports payroll processing and other UCPath transactions.

Eligible Groups Include:

  • Department Users
  • Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) Users

Required for:

  • Initiators submitting Funding Entry transactions (adding funding to positions).
