UCPath Foundation Courses

Foundation courses are required for all UCPath transactional users, regardless of which module(s) you will be using.

Foundation courses cover system basics and need-to-know information about how UCPath functions. If you have already taken the foundation courses for your access to another module, you can skip down to the courses for this module.

Foundation Courses

PHCMNAV100: PeopleSoft Overview

Web-Based Training, 20 minutes

Required for all users

This web-based training provides an overview of PeopleSoft and the modules for users who perform transactions beyond self-service. This course:

  • Discusses UCPath, its key benefits and the role of the UCPath Center

  • Recognizes and defines UCPath key terms and acronyms

  • Lists and describes the UCPath system module

PHCMNAV105: Basics and Navigation

Web-Based Training, 1 hour

Required for all users

This online training is a prerequisite course for users who perform transactions beyond self-service.

It provides an overview of all standard UCPath functionality including:

  • How to navigate UCPath

  • An overview of the available field types and data entry methods

  • Information on how to access the UCPath Help site

PHCMNAV108: Cognos Reports

Web-Based Training, 30 minutes

Required for all users

This course introduces Cognos report consumers to the basic layout and navigation of Cognos reports for UCPath, including accessing and running a report, scheduling a report, viewing report output, saving report output, and exporting report output to Excel. This course teaches users:

  • How to access Cognos from the UCPath portal
  • How to browse for reports
  • How to run reports and navigate report results
  • How to manage report outputs and schedule reports

PPHCMNAV106: Reports and Processes

Web-Based Training, 20 minutes

Required for all users

This web-based training is a prerequisite course for users who run reports or processes in UCPath. This course describes standard functionality for reports and processes in UCPath and teaches users how to run reports and processes.

PHCMNAV310: AWE Overview and Approvals

Web-Based Training, 30 minutes

Required for Initiators and Approvers

This course provides an overview of Approval Workflow Engine (AWE) in UCPath. It also reviews the steps for approving various types of UCPath transactions.

Position Funding Entry / Updates and Direct Retro Transactions Training Courses

Once you have completed the Foundation Courses above, you may continue to the Position Funding courses. 

Courses listed as Required for all users are required for Position Funding Initiator, Approver, and Inquiry (view-only) roles. All courses specify which roles they are required for.

PHCMGEN100: Commitment Accounting Overview

Web-Based Training, 15 minutes

Recommended for all users but not required

This course provides an overview of the functionality in the UCPath Commitment Accounting module, outlines the role of Commitment Accounting at UC, lists the primary functions within Commitment Accounting and, describes the need for the general ledger (GL) integration processes.

PHCMGEN101: Chartfield Configuration

Web-Based Training, 15 minutes

Recommended for all users but not required

This course familiarizes users with configuration setup for Commitment Accounting and the ChartField values at UC. The couse describes the purpose of ChartField configuration in Commitment Accountingand describes the relationship between ChartFields and the full accounting unit (FAU).

PHCMGEN102: GL Assessment Configuration

Web-Based Training, 30 minutes

Recommended for all users but not required

This course reviews the tasks completed by Position Administrators using Position Management. It provides hands-on practice on how to create new positions and update existing positions. The course explains the UCPath pages and roles responsible for Position Updates and describes the tasks completed by the Position Administrator using Position Management.

BE-PHCMGEN110D1: Funding Entry Inquiry

Web-Based Training, 20 minutes

Required for all users

This course provides:

  • An overview of the customized process for funding functionality
  • Describes the use of the funding data at UC
  • Identifies the components of funding data

PHCMGEN115: Direct Retro Inquiry

Web-Based Training, 30 minutes

Required for all users

This course provides an overview of the customized process for direct retro (Payroll Expense transfer) functionality. It describe the use of direct retro at UC and identifies the key information on the Review Retro Distribution page.

PHCMGENL201: Position Funding Entry and Updates

Instructor-Led Training, 4 hours

Required for Initiators

Take this course if you will be entering new position funding, position funding updates, and direct retro updates.
